NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. rapper and hip-hop mogul 50 Cent sued Taco Bell on Wednesday, saying the restaurant chain made him the star of its hip-hop themed ad campaign without his permission and without paying him a fee.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, accuses the Mexican-style fast food chain of "diluting the value of his good name" and employing a guerrilla advertising campaign to fool consumers into thinking he had endorsed the chain, said the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court.

"Without seeking or obtaining Jackson's authorization, defendant Taco Bell made him the star and focus of its nation-wide advertising campaign by using his name, persona and trademark to promote Taco Bell's business and products," court papers said.

A spokesperson for Yum! Brands, which operates Taco Bell, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The lawsuit accuses the chain of disseminating a letter, addressed to 50 Cent, that encourages the rapper to change his name to "79 Cent," "89 Cent" or "99 Cent," the lawsuit said.

The letter was designed to promote the company's "79-89-99 Cent Why Pay More" campaign, while avoiding the multimillion dollar fee the rapper might have charged to use his name, the lawsuit said.

The letter was eventually sent to the rapper, but only after it had been circulated to reporters, the lawsuit said.

"As Taco Bell intended, many customers believed that 50 Cent had agreed to endorse Taco Bell's products. Indeed, postings on numerous Internet 'blogs' castigated 50 Cent for 'selling out' by his apparent endorsement of Taco Bell," the lawsuit said.

Since his debut album in 2003, 50 Cent has built a business with a record label, a clothing and footwear line, ringtones and video games. He has also starred in a movie based on his life, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."

Hey everyone... i'm 3months into my loc journey, i started my locs by twisting one strand of hair around the amount and size i wish to have, then the following month i latch hooked my locs.

Hi yall,

I have some questions about coloring my hair and since you've been so helpful in teh past i wanted to ask here. I have had unrelaxed hair for a year and 3 months now, but i am natural because i still dye my hair. i like to rinse my hair so i usually dye it 2-3 times a year to lighten the parts that i want the color to really show in. I would essentially like to go completely natural, so my question is are rinses considered chemical? because i figure that i can go without lightening my hair but i definitely still want to color it. Also do you know any natural ways to lighten hair? thank you!!

I don't have terrible skin but I do have blemished that I'd like to get rid of. After seeing this video, I thought about doing a chemical peel. However, I'm not sure if it's something I really want to try. It's not about lightening my skin but just making the blemishes a little less noticable. What do you all think about a process such as this?

Thanks so much for all of your tips! I tried a couple of your suggestions and I have to say that my hair is softer and more moisturized!
I have another question which really isn't that important but I was curious. I was talking to my mother the other day and I told her I was trying to keep my hair moisturized. She told me that back in the day they used to mix glycerin, egg and mayonnaise together in order to condition and moisturize their hair. She said it worked but I haven't tried it. Do you think that works or has anyone tried that before?

I've always read Yahoo News, but I recently switched to Google News and I could not be happier with it. I set up an auto panel for all the things I find to be important on the web so I get all the LJ news and it turns out that LJ is for angsty teenager hipsters at least that's what one article I read said. I hate misinformation trying to masquerade as journalism. Anyway, you can set up a what do they call them, thingy to search for news on any topic you choose! I did livejournal, hulu, full episodes, small businessess, work at home and I am effortlessly finding so much current and useful information. I am so mad at myself that I wasn't using Google News instead of Yahoo all along and of course, I have a thingy specifically for Mount Vernon where as with Yahoo, they said it was specifically for Mount Vernon, but it was actually news for Westchester County (whatev's) and NYC (they are irrelevant to my situation right now, AKA that's what the six o clock news is for) so I'm really happy with it and I also found that CBS does a live streaming of their local New York news. They are the only one, but they are a good one, especially since their weather person is from Mount Vernon and I should support anyway. My not being able to watch the news every day was the only reason I had for even potentially wanting to go back to cable. Now that I can watch the news every day, I'm set and very happy with my situation. I actually have too many sources for online programming.

1. Sites that automatically open video or audio files. Why you ask? You don't know where the person is accessing the site from. It could be from work, could be from the library. It could be on a train. It could very easily and very often be some place that they don't want to hear whatever is vomiting out of your site. I'm just saying. If it's youtube or pandora, they can start music automatically. I don't like it when they do it either, but that's the purpose of those sites. The rest of us are just annoying.


2. Advertisements that talk with no provocation. Why you ask? See #1. In addition to number one, it's the very worst kind of spam. Not only does it assault my eyes and my brain, but now it gets to offend my ears as well. Unacceptable.


3. Those flash advertisements that constantly run beside the article you are trying to read. Years ago, they were stoppable, not anymore. It's a total distraction. I generally read articles in the printable format for this reason.

I thought I had a lot more, but I guess that's it. The problems listed above are quite pervasive though so I guess that's why I felt I had more.

I had a very scary dream last night and we all know I like to record these things. I dreamed I was arranging a fight. I believe the fight was for myself and I was talking to the... the whatever he was and we were trying to pick a location for the fight and we were in these cliffs and there were all these small flat surfaces smaller than the size of a standard boxing ring surrounded by drop offs into the oblivion you know cliffs, and even in the dream I was thinking one of us, probably both of us are not going to survive this. For some reason though, I felt I had no choice. I woke up thinking that the only way I have no choice is if the world depends upon this, if the world does not depend upon it, I do not have to fight this battle, I can choose another route. Profound right. Yeah, I thought so. I only have a very vague notion of what it means, but maybe that's intentional.
